23. The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century aims to promote the better use and production of statistics in the developing world.

2. In light of this situation, the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the Twenty-first Century (PARIS 21) was launched at a meeting in Paris in November 1999 in response to an Economic and Social Council resolution on rationalizing and improving statistics and indicators.
