5. Implementation of the Year in the Near East and North Africa
5 - تنفيذ أنشطة السنة الدولية للأرز في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا

37. IFAD-supported activities in the Near East and North Africa relevant to UNCCD implementation include contributions to the elaboration by governments of national action programmes, both nationally and locally.
37- وتشمل الأنشطة التي يدعمها الصندوق والجارية في منطقتي الشرق الأدنى وشمال افريقيا والتي هي ذات صلة بتنفيذ الاتفاقية المساهمات في صياغة الحكومات لبرامج العمل الوطنية على الصعيدين الوطني والمحلي.

Most of the IFAD-financed TAGs in the Near East and North Africa are implemented in collaboration with research centres for research into arid and semi-arid lands, e.g. ICARDA, the Arab Centre for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD).
ومعظم منح المساعدة التقنية التي يمولها الصندوق في منطقتي الشرق الأدنى وشمال افريقيا تنفذ بالتعاون مع مراكز البحث في الأراضي القاحلة وشبه القاحلة وعلى سبيل المثال مع المركز الدولي للبحوث الزراعية في المناطق الجافة، والمركز العربي لدراسات المناطق الجافة والأراضي القاحلة.

2 - حلقة عمل استشارية بعنوان: " المساواة بين الجنسين في القطاع الزراعي والريفي في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا " ، تونس، يومي 18 و 19 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر

As part of this agenda, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) organized two regional expert consultation workshops to investigate the role of high-value crops in rural poverty reduction in the Near East and North Africa, based on case studies from Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.
وكجزء من جدول الأعمال هذا، نظّم الصندوق الدولي للتنمية الزراعية حلقتي عمل إقليميتين للتشاور بين الخبراء بغية استقصاء دور المحاصيل ذات القيمة العالية في الحد من الفقر الريفي في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا، بالاستناد إلى دراسات حالات إفرادية تتعلق بالمغرب وتونس ومصر.

The member States are deeply concerned about the situation in the Near East and North Africa, particularly in Syria, and hope for the achievement of peace, stability, prosperity and progress in this region without external interference, including use of force, not sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council.
ويساور الدول الأعضاء القلق البالغ بشأن الحالة في منطقة الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا، ولا سيما في سوريا، وتأمل بأن يتحقق السلام والاستقرار والازدهار والتقدم في هذه المنطقة بدون تدخل خارجي، بما في ذلك استخدام القوة، لا يُقرُّه مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة.

18. There are presently six national committees or other mechanisms for observance of the International Year of Mountains in the Near East and North Africa, established in the following countries: the Islamic Republic of Iran, Lebanon, Morocco, the Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia and Yemen.
18 - يوجد حاليا ست لجان وطنية أو آليات أخرى للاحتفال بالسنة الدولية للجبال في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا، وهي منشأة في البلدان التالية: تونس وجمهورية إيران الإسلامية والجمهورية العربية السورية ولبنان والمغرب واليمن.

13. In the Near East and North Africa, FAO has implemented 100 projects and programmes, including regional projects, in more than 13 countries, relating to land and water management, sand dune stabilization, and integrated management of natural resources.
13- ونفذت الفاو، في أكثر من 13 بلداً من بلدان الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا، 100 مشروع وبرنامج، بما في ذلك مشاريع إقليمية، تتعلق جميعها بإدارة الأراضي والمياه، وتثبيت الكثبان الرملية، وإدارة الموارد الطبيعية إدارة متكاملة.

33. Mountains are an important part of the social, economic and cultural life of countries in the Near East and North African region and the various activities and initiatives undertaken within the context of the International Year of Mountains created greater understanding of their value.
33 - وتشكّل الجبال جزءا هاما من الحياة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية للبلدان في منطقة الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا. وقد ولّدت مختلف الأنشطة والمبادرات التي اضطُلع بها في سياق السنة الدولية للجبال قدرا أكبر من الوعي بأهميتها.

(e) Took note of the report and recommendations resulting from the regional multi-stakeholder workshop on food security and nutrition for the Near East and North Africa region.
(هـ) أخذت علما على النحو الواجب بالتقرير والتوصيات المنبثقة عن حلقة العمل الإقليمية لأصحاب المصلحة المتعددين عن الأمن الغذائي والتغذية في إقليم الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا.

(d) Welcomed the outcome of the regional multi-stakeholder workshop on food security and nutrition for the Near East and North Africa region, and encouraged the regional members to deal with coordination issues at both the regional and the national levels;
(د) رحبت بنتائج حلقة العمل الإقليمية لأصحاب المصلحة المتعددين في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا، وشجعت الأعضاء الإقليميين على معالجة قضايا التنسيق على المستويين الإقليمي والوطني.

The rather stagnant situation in the Near East and North Africa (33 million) and Latin America and the Caribbean (53 million) is preoccupying, even though both the percentage and number of undernourished persons in these regions are relatively small.
أما الحالة الراكدة إلى حد ما في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا (33 مليون نسمة) وفي أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة الكاريبي (53 مليون نسمة)، فإنها تثير القلق رغم أن نسبة وعدد الأشخاص الذين تنقصهم التغذية في هذه المناطق قليلان نسبياً.

The proportion of the rural population whose income and consumption fall below nationally defined poverty lines is estimated at 31 per cent in Asia (46 per cent if China and India are excluded), 60 per cent in sub-Saharan Africa, 61 per cent in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 26 per cent in the Near East and North Africa.
ونسبة سكان الأرياف الذين ينخفض دخلهم واستهلاكهم الى ما دون حدود الفقر المحددة وطنياً تقدَّر ب31 في المائة في آسيا (46 في المائة، إذا استثنينا الصين والهند) و60 في المائة في البلدان الأفريقية الواقعة جنوب الصحراء، و61 في المائة في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة الكاريبي، و26 في المائة في الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا.

32. Based on information provided to the International Year of Mountains Coordination Unit, 10 national committees or other mechanisms for observance of the Year were established in the Near East and North Africa, in the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia and Yemen.
