وفي ضوء هذه الرسالة، بدأت في اتخاذ الخطوات اللازمة ﻹطلاع العريف سانكوه على مفهوم العمليات المبين في المرفق الثاني لهذا التقرير، وعندئذ سأقدم إلى مجلس اﻷمن في أقرب فرصة التوصيات المناسبة فيما يتعلق بإنشاء عملية لحفظ السلام في سيراليون.

The Government of Liberia which, along with the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), brokered the peace process, is also serving as the intermediary to facilitate the early return of Corporal Sankoh and Lieutenant Colonel Koroma to Freetown to help implement the Sierra Leonean peace plan.

As explained in paragraphs 15 and 16 above, while it was not possible for the Assessment Team to get the same assurances from the RUF before it left Abidjan, I have received from Corporal Sankoh two letters, dated 13 and 17 January respectively.
