Currently, the ECOMOG interposition force in Guinea-Bissau stands at 600 troops, composed of contingents from Benin, the Gambia, the Niger and Togo.
ويبلغ قوام القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق المراقبين العسكريين حاليا ٦٠٠ جندي، وتتكون من وحدات من بنن وتوغو وغامبيا والنيجر.

With the withdrawal of the ECOMOG interposition force, some of the tasks previously assigned to that force under the Abuja Agreement are now operationally obsolete.
ومع انسحاب القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق المراقبين، فقد أصبحت بعض المهام الموكلة سابقا إلى هذه القوة بموجب اتفاق أبوجا متقادمة من الناحية العملية.

3. To facilitate the implementation of the Abuja Agreement, the current Chairman of ECOWAS and President of the Togolese Republic, His Excellency Mr. Gnassingbé Eyadéma, dispatched a Togolese company of 112 men to Bissau on 26 December 1998, as an advance detachment of the ECOWAS interposition force (ECOMOG).
٣ - بعث سعادة غناسينغبي إياديما، الرئيس الحالي للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا ورئيس جمهورية توغو، سرية توغولية قوامها ١١٢ فردا منذ ٢٦ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨ لتكون طليعة للقوة الفاصلة التابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا، وذلك لتسهيل تنفيذ اتفاق أبوجا المذكور أعلاه.

6. Affirms that the ECOMOG interposition force may be required to take action to ensure the security and freedom of movement of its personnel in the discharge of its mandate;
٦ - يؤكد أنه قد يلزم أن تتخذ القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق المراقبين إجراءات لضمان أمن أفرادها وحرية تنقلهم وهم يؤدون ولاية تلك القوة؛

6. Affirms that the Monitoring Group interposition force may be required to take action to ensure the security and freedom of movement of its personnel in the discharge of its mandate;
٦ - يؤكد أنه قد يلزم أن تتخذ القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق الرصد إجراءات لضمان أمن أفرادها وحرية تنقلهم وهم يؤدون ولاية تلك القوة؛

11. Requests the Secretary-General to take the necessary steps to establish a trust fund for Guinea-Bissau which would assist in supporting the Monitoring Group interposition force in providing logistical support to them and encourages Member States to contribute to the Fund;
١١ - يطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يتخذ الخطوات اللازمة ﻹنشاء صندوق استئماني لغينيا - بيساو يساعد في تمويل القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق الرصد وتوفير الدعم السوقي لها، ويشجع الدول اﻷعضاء على التبرع للصندوق؛

12. Also requests the Secretary-General to keep the Security Council regularly informed of the situation in Guinea-Bissau and to submit a report to it by 17 March 1999 on the implementation of the Abuja Agreement, including the implementation by the Monitoring Group interposition force of its mandate;
٢١ - يطلب أيضا إلى اﻷمين العام أن يبقي مجلــس اﻷمــن علــى علــم بصورة منتظمة بالحالة في غينيــا - بيســاو، وأن يقــــدم إليـــه تقريـــرا بحلول ١٧ آذار/ مــارس ١٩٩٩ عــن تنفيـــذ اتفاق أبوجا بما في ذلك تنفيذ القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريـــق الرصد لولايتها؛

A meeting of the army chiefs of staff of the countries concerned was held in Lomé on 19 and 20 February 1999 to decide on the size of the different contingents that were to make up the battalion, in order to reflect the international character of the West African interposition force in Guinea-Bissau.
وعُقد اجتماع لهيئات قيـادة جيوش البلدان المعنيـة في لومي، يومي ١٩ و ٢٠ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٩، بغية تحديد عدد أفراد الوحدات العسكرية التي ستتكون منها الكتيبة على نحو يُجسﱢد الطبيعة الدولية للقوة الفاصلة التابعة لغرب أفريقيا في غينيا - بيساو.

4. Approves the implementation by the ECOMOG interposition force of its mandate referred to in paragraph 3 above in a neutral and impartial way and in conformity with United Nations peacekeeping standards to achieve its objective to facilitate the return to peace and security by monitoring the implementation of the Abuja Agreement;
٤ - يوافق على قيام القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق المراقبين بتنفيذ ولايتها المشار اليها في الفقرة ٣ أعلاه بأسلوب محايد ونزيه وطبقا لمعايير اﻷمم المتحدة لحفظ السلام، بلوغا لهدف القوة المتمثل في تيسير عودة السلام واﻷمن عن طريق رصد تنفيذ اتفاق أبوجا؛

12. Requests further the Secretary-General to keep the Security Council regularly informed of the situation in Guinea-Bissau and to submit a report to it by 17 March 1999 on the implementation of the Abuja Agreement including the implementation by the ECOMOG interposition force of its mandate;

At a meeting with me, on 11 December 1998, an ECOWAS ministerial delegation on the Guinea-Bissau issues reiterated that ECOWAS needed logistical and financial support in order to proceed with the speedy deployment of the ECOMOG interposition force, the key operational support instrument for the implementation of the Agreement on the ground.
وحينما التقيت، في ١١ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨، بوفد وزاري من الجماعة الاقتصادية بشأن مسائل غينيا - بيساو، كرر الوفد اﻹعراب عن حاجة الجماعة إلى الدعم السوقي والمالي من أجل الشروع على وجه السرعة في نشر القوة الفاصلة التابعة لفريق المراقبين العسكريين، التي تمثل اﻷداة الرئيسية للدعم العملي لتنفيذ الاتفاق على أرض الواقع.
