During the meeting the Acting Legal Counsel informed the Committee that, subsequent to the preparation of the memorandum, additional credentials in due form or in the form of a facsimile or a cable had been received in respect of the representatives of the following Member States: Bolivia, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Côte d'Ivoire, Jamaica and Nicaragua, which updated the memorandum accordingly.

The Authority celebrated this event in May of this year during its regular session by holding a two-day commemorative session that was addressed by the President of the Assembly, the Secretary-General of the Authority, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Secretary-General of the United Nations through the then Acting Legal Counsel, the President of the Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the Chairman of the Preparatory Commission.
