I would like to refer to the " message of struggle " issued by Greek Cypriot women, which has been circulated as document A/48/924-S/1994/413 dated 11 April 1994 by the Greek Cypriot delegation to the United Nations, and to respond to some of the allegations contained in that message, with a view to putting the record straight.

2. On 19 July 1994, the Turkish occupation regime staged a violent demonstration in the occupied area of Nicosia, adjacent to the Ayios Kassianos quarter, in an effort to disrupt a solemn ceremony for the missing persons in Cyprus organized by Greek Cypriot women and other relatives of the missing persons on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Turkish invasion.
