During the present session UNCTAD had proved once again that it could be a very useful forum for exchanging views on economic and development issues.

As such, under the leadership of Raúl Prebisch as its founding Secretary-General, the UNCTAD secretariat hired a staff of experts on economic and development issues that were creating ex-novo, from within the organization, new ideas issued from the think tank that they were effectively creating.
وهكذا، قامت أمانة الأونكتاد تحت قيادة راؤول بريبيش، الأمين العام المؤسس للمؤتمر، بتعيين موظفين من الخبراء في القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية ابتكروا شيئاً جديداً، من داخل المنظمة، فصدرت أفكار جديدة عن مركز الأفكار الذي استحدثوه فعلياً.

(a) Assessment of the needs of the 10 selected universities and identification of four specific international economic and development issues within the broad areas on which the generic training modules will be developed;
(أ) تقدير احتياجات الجامعات العشر المنتقاة، وتحديد أربع قضايا محددة من القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية الدولية ضمن مجالات واسعة النطاق كي يجري وضع نماذج تدريبية أساسية بشأنها؛

(c) Development of generic training modules on international economic and development issues, as well as a manual for a training workshop on the adaptation of generic UNCTAD materials to local needs and the holding of a workshop for 10 selected universities;
(ج) وضع نماذج تدريبية أساسية عن القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية الدولية، فضلا عن دليل لحلقة عمل تدريبية عن تكييف المواد الأساسية التي ينتجها الأونكتاد مع الاحتياجات المحلية، وتنظيم حلقة عمل لعشر جامعات منتقاة؛

One should therefore distinguish between those areas (e.g. collection of statistics) where the involvement of more than one organization would mean duplication and those where, on the contrary, alternative views enrich the current international debate on economic and development issues.
ولذلك ينبغي التمييز بين المجالات (مثل جمع الإحصاءات) التي يؤدي فيها اشتراك أكثر من منظمة إلى ازدواج الجهود، وبين المجالات المناقضة لذلك التي تثري فيها الآراء البديلة النقاش الدولي الجاري بشأن القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية.

The reform measures have placed emphasis on economic and development issues with the creation of executive committees in the areas of peace and security, economic and social affairs, development cooperation and human affairs (all of them to also address human rights issues).
وركزت تدابير الإصلاح على القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية مع إنشاء اللجان التنفيذية في مجالات السلم والأمن، والشؤون الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، والتعاون الإنمائي والشؤون الإنسانية (وجميعها معني أيضاً بمعالجة قضايا حقوق الإنسان).

Particular attention would be given to enhancing the capacity of participating universities to offer courses on international economic and development issues, especially (a) globalization challenges and development strategies, (b) international trade and trade policies, (c) transfer of technology and related investment and intellectual property issues and (d) trade and transport facilitation and the use of ICT for development.
وينبغي إيلاء اهتمام خاص إلى تعزيز قدرة الجامعات المشاركة على توفير دورات دراسية في القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية الدولية، وبخاصة: (أ) تحديات العولمة واستراتيجيات التنمية، (ب) التجارة الدولية والسياسات التجارية، (ج) نقل التكنولوجيا وما يتصل بذلك من قضايا الاستثمار وحقوق الملكية الفكرية، (د) تيسير التجارة والنقل وتسخير تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات لأغراض التنمية.

To date, one LDC university (the University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania) has joined the Institute and benefited from access to UNCTAD's expertise and research on international economic and development issues, as well as from targeted support in the development of the school's new Master of Science course on trade policy management.
وحتى الآن انضمت جامعة واحدة من جامعات أقل البلدان نمواً (جامعة دار السلام في تنزانيا) إلى المعهد واستفادت من فرصة الحصول على الخبرة والبحوث التي يوفرها الأونكتاد في مجال القضايا الاقتصادية والإنمائية الدولية، ومن الدعم المحدد الهدف في وضع مقرر جديد خاص بإدارة السياسات التجارية في دراسات ماجستير العلوم.
