4. Requests the Secretary-General to prepare a comprehensive document compiling information on the mandates, composition, functions and working methods of the functional commissions and expert groups and bodies and to submit it to the Council not later than February 1997;

The Secretary-General's report on the establishment, terms of reference, membership and composition, terms of office of members, reporting procedures and frequency of meetings of subsidiary bodies of the Council is contained in document E/1996/97. This report presents further information on the working methods of the functional commissions and expert groups of the Council.

In its resolution 1996/41 B, the Council requested the Secretariat to prepare a comprehensive document compiling information on the mandates, composition, functions and working methods of the functional commissions and expert groups and bodies and to submit it to the Council not later than February 1997.

1. The Economic and Social Council, by resolution 1996/41 of 26 July 1996, which it adopted pursuant to its consideration of the follow-up to General Assembly resolution 50/227 of 24 May 1996, requested the Secretary-General to prepare a comprehensive document compiling information on the functional commissions and expert groups and bodies and to submit it to the Council.
1 - طلب المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي إلى الأمين العام، في قراره 1996/41 المؤرخ 26 تموز/يوليه 1996 المتخذ بناء على ما انتهى إليه نظره في متابعة تنفيذ قرار الجمعية العامة 50/227 المؤرخ 24 أيار/مايو 1996، أن يعد وثيقة شاملة تجمع معلومات عن اللجان الفنية وأفرقة الخبراء والهيئات وأن يقدمها إلى المجلس.

An addendum to that report (E/1996/97/Add.1) provided further information on the working methods of the functional commissions and expert groups of the Council.
