واستمعت اللجنة أيضا باهتمام إلى بيان أدلي به نيابة عن اللجنة الاستشارية الدولية للقطن يقترح أن تضطلع اللجنة بعمل لتعزيز الانضباط التعاقدي وفعالية اتفاقات التحكيم وإنفاذ قرارات التحكيم في تلك الصناعة.

17. A recent survey conducted by the International Cotton Advisory Committee had shown that the elimination of the subsidies granted to cotton growers would translate into an increase of more than 31 per cent in the income of cotton-growing peasants of Mali.

The International Cotton Advisory Committee and the Common Fund for Commodities are involved in the design, development and financing of the project, which will benefit cotton-producing and -exporting countries of Africa, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Togo.

32- وثمة مشروع جديد يهدف إلى تحسين استدامة إنتاج القطن وزيادة دخل صغار المزارعين في البلدان المنتجة للقطن والبلدان المصدرة لـه في غرب أفريقيا ووسطها، بالتعاون مع اللجنة الاستشارية الدولية للقطن والصندوق المشترك للسلع الأساسية، حيث يسهم الصندوق في تمويل المشروع.
