24. The global mapping project is an international cooperation initiative launched in 1996 through the voluntary participation of national mapping organizations, led by the International Steering Committee for Global Mapping and its secretariat, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan.

(b) The Permanent Committee on Geographical Information System Infrastructure for Asia and the Pacific cooperate with the International Steering Committee for Global Mapping, the United Nations Statistics Division and other international organizations in order to integrate spatial and statistical data.

9. At the same meeting, Fraser Taylor, Chairperson of the International Steering Committee for Global Mapping (ISCGM), presented a paper (E/CONF.95/6.IP.7) entitled " Global Mapping and spatial data infrastructures: developments and challenges for the dissemination of geospatial data " .
9 - وفي الجلسة نفسها، قام فريزر تايلور، رئيس اللجنة التوجيهية الدولية لرسم الخرائط العالمية بعرض ورقة (E/CONF.95/6/IP.7) معنونة " رسم الخرائط العالمية والهياكل الأساسية للبيانات المكانية: التطورات والتحديات فيما يتعلق ببث البيانات الجيوفضائية " .

(a) Starting the development of a pan Asia-Pacific regional fundamental data set that contributes to the Global Map, and encouraging member nations not contributing to the Global Mapping project to consider participation in the project with the assistance of the International Steering Committee for Global Mapping and the Permanent Committee;
(أ) البدء في تطوير مجموعة بيانات أساسية إقليمية لدول آسيا والمحيط الهادئ تسهم في الخريطة العالمية، وتشجيع الدول الأعضاء التي لا تساهم في المشروع العالمي لرسم الخرائط لتنظر في الاشتراك في المشروع وذلك بمساعدة اللجنة التوجيهية الدولية لرسم الخرائط العالمية واللجنة الدائمة؛

11. Also at the 2nd plenary meeting, D. R. Fraser Taylor, Chairperson of the International Steering Committee for Global Mapping (ISCGM), presented a paper entitled " Global mapping and disaster management: the importance of participation and partnership in the creation of global map " (E/CONF.97/6/IP.5).
