On the issue of the future of the Scientific Committee, his delegation was deeply concerned by the move to exclude discussion of the report of the Scientific Committee from the agenda of the General Assembly, and to reassign certain tasks carried out by the Scientific Committee to IAEA or WHO, which would lead to its abolition.
٢١ - وفيما يتعلق بمستقبل اللجنة العلمية قال إن وفده يشعر بقلق بالغ إزاء الاتجاه الرامي الى استبعاد النظر في تقرير اللجنة العلمية من جدول أعمال الجمعية العامة والى منح الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية ومنظمة الصحة العالمية بعض الوظائف التي تمارسها اللجنة العلمية وهو ما من شأنه أن يؤدي الى إلغائها.

In that connection, his delegation wished to register its deep concern at the current trend towards omitting consideration of the report of the Scientific Committee from the agenda of General Assembly sessions and attempts to assign its functions to IAEA or WHO, which in fact would mean eliminating it.
وأضاف في هذا الصدد أن بيلاروس تعرب عن قلقها الجاد فيما يتعلق بوجود اتجاهات ترمي إلى استبعاد النظر في تقرير اللجنة العلمية من جدول أعمال الجمعية العامة، وأيضا بشأن محاولات إسناد مهامها إلى الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية أو منظمة الصحة العالمية، اﻷمر الذي يعني تصفيتها عمليا.

At its twenty-eighth session, the General Assembly decided to increase the membership of the Scientific Committee from 15 to a maximum of 20 (resolution 3154 C (XXVIII)) and, at its forty-first session, it decided to increase the membership to a maximum of 21 (resolution 41/62 B).
وفي الدورة الثامنة والعشرين، قررت الجمعية العامة أن تزيد عدد أعضاء اللجنة العلمية من 15 إلى 20 عضوا كحد أقصى (القرار 3154 جيم (د-28))، وفي دورتها الحادية والأربعين، قررت أن تزيد عدد الأعضاء إلى 21 عضوا كحد أقصى (القرار 41/62 باء).
