It will stress in this regard the contribution of the International Conference on Peace, security, democracy and development in the Great Lakes region of Africa, of which the first summit of Heads of State is to be held on 19 and 20 November in Dar es Salaam.

After more than 10 years of preparations by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the Great Lakes region, the International Conference on Peace, Security, Democracy and Development in the Great Lakes Region was finally held in Dar es Salaam, on 19 and 20 November 2004.
11 - وبعد ما يربو على 10 سنوات من الاستعدادات من قبل مكتب الممثل الخاص للأمين العام في منطقة البحيرات الكبرى، انعقد أخيرا المؤتمر الدولي للسلام والأمن والديمقراطية والتنمية في منطقة البحيرات الكبرى في دار السلام، يومي 19 و 20 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2004.

7. the International Conference on Peace, Security, Democracy and Development in the Great Lakes region was organized by the 11 core countries of the region with the support of the United Nations, the AU and concerned subregional organizations, to launch a process that will promote dialogue and interaction and ultimately consolidate peace in the region.
