108. The Court of personal status is the authority competent to settle marital disputes, to which the Personal Status Act No. 51 of 1984 applies. This Act regulates all matters relating to personal status, including marriage, divorce, maintenance, custody, inheritance and legacies.

In its concluding observations on Tunisia (11 June 2010), following review of the third periodic report, the Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed satisfaction at " the withdrawal by the State Party of its declaration and of reservations to article 2 of the Convention relating to personal status.....and article 7 relating to nationality " (law no. 36/2008 (9 June 2008) and ordinance no. 2503/2008 (7 July 2008)).
