1. The present report is submitted in follow-up to General Assembly resolution 61/266, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit to it, at its sixty-third session, a comprehensive report on the implementation of its resolutions on multilingualism.
أولا - مقدمـة 1 - يُقدم هذا التقرير عملا بقرار الجمعية العامة 61/266، الذي طلبت فيه الجمعية العامة إلى الأمين العام أن يقدم إليها في دورتها الثالثة والستين تقرير شامل عن تنفيذ قراراتها المتعلقة بتعدد اللغات.

أولا - مقدمـة 1 - يُقدم هذا التقرير عملا بقرار الجمعية العامة 63/306 الذي طلبت فيه الجمعية إلى الأمين العام أن يقدم إليها، في دورتها الخامسة والستين، تقريرا شاملا عن تنفيذ قراراتها المتعلقة بتعدد اللغات.

At its sixty-first session, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to appoint a new Coordinator for Multilingualism; proclaimed 2008 International Year of Languages; and requested the Secretary-General to submit to it at its sixty-third session a comprehensive report on the full implementation of its resolutions on multilingualism (resolution 61/266).

At its resumed sixty-third session, in September 2009, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit to it at its sixty-fifth session a comprehensive report on the full implementation of its resolutions on multilingualism (resolution 63/306).
وفي الدورة الثالثة والستين المستأنفة، طلبت الجمعية العامة المعقودة في أيلول/سبتمبر 2009، إلى الأمين العام أن يقدم إليها في دورتها الخامسة والستين تقريرا شاملا عن التنفيذ الكامل لقراراتها المتعلقة بتعدد اللغات (القرار 63/306).

While the Committee does not object to the proposed abolition of posts, it recommends that the General Assembly request the Secretary-General to take appropriate measures to mitigate any negative impact and to report thereon in the performance reports for the biennium 2012-2013, taking into account the relevant General Assembly resolutions on multilingualism.
وفي حين أن اللجنة الاستشارية لا تعترض على إلغاء الوظائف المقترح فإنها توصـي بأن تطلب الجمعية العامة إلى الأمين العام اتخاذ التدابير الملائمة للتخفيف من أي آثار سلبية والإبلاغ عما تم بهذا الشأن في تقارير الأداء لفترة السنتين 2012-2013، آخذا في الاعتبار قرارات الجمعية العامة المتعلقة بتعدد اللغات.

When submitting the screened list of candidates for vacancies to departments for their consideration, OHRM draws the programme manager’s attention to General Assembly resolution 50/11 of 2 November 1997 and ST/IC/1995/73 of 8 November 1995 on multilingualism and points out that this particular factor should be taken into account in conjunction with the final selection.
وعند تقديم قائمة مفروزة تضم أسماء المرشحين للوظائف إلى اﻹدارات للنظر فيها، يوجه مكتب إدارة الموارد البشرية انتباه مديري البرامج إلى قرار الجمعية العامة ٥٠/١١ المؤرخ ٢ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ١٩٩٥ وإلى الوثيقة ST/IC/1995/73 المؤرخة ٨ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ١٩٩٥ المتعلقة بتعدد اللغات ويشير إلى وجوب أخذ هذا العامل المعني في الاعتبار عند الاختيار النهائي.
