1. For the purpose of this article, " pollution of an international watercourse " means any detrimental alteration in the composition or quality of the waters of an international watercourse which results directly or indirectly from human conduct.
١ - في هذه المادة، يقصد ﺑ " تلوث المجرى المائي الدولي " أي تغيير ضار في تركيب مياه المجرى المائي الدولي أو في نوعيتها ينتج بطريقة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة عن سلوك بشري.

3. Watercourse States shall, at the request of any of them, consult with a view to arriving at mutually agreeable measures and methods to prevent, reduce and control pollution of an international watercourse, such as:
٣ - تتشاور دول المجرى المائي، بناء على طلب أي دولة منها، بغية التوصل إلى تدابير وطرق تتفق عليها فيما بينها لمنع تلوث المجرى المائي الدولي والحد من التلوث ومكافحته، من قبيل:

٣ - في هذه المادة، يقصد ﺑ " الضبط " استخدام اﻷشغال الهندسية المائية أو أي إجراء مستمر آخر لتعديل أو تنويع تدفق مياه المجرى المائي الدولي أو للتحكم فيه بطريقة أخرى.

كما أن الاتفاقية لا تشير على أي نحو إلى المبدأ الذي لا يمكن منازعته، وهو مبدأ سيادة دول المجرى المائي على أجزاء المجرى المائي الدولي التي تقع في أقاليمها.

As a retaliatory action against States Members of the United Nations that have taken measures in fulfilment of their obligations under the Charter, these organizations persist in blocking the trade and navigation of riparian States on this vital international waterway.
فما انفكت هاتان المنظمتان تصران على إعاقة التجارة والملاحة للدول المشاطئة على هذا المجرى المائي الدولي الحيوي، وذلك كإجراء انتقامي ضد الدول اﻷعضاء في اﻷمم المتحدة التي اتخذت تدابير في هذا الشأن وفاء بالتزاماتها بموجب الميثاق.
