In my capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group for the month of May 2002 and on behalf of the States members of the League of Arab States, I request that an urgent meeting of the Security Council be convened to consider the extremely grave situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.

The tenth emergency special session was again reconvened on 17 March 1998 at the request of the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic in his capacity as the Chairman of the Arab Group for the month of March 1998, and by the Permanent Representative of Colombia in his capacity as Chairman of the Coordinating Bureau of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries.
