On 14 July 2008, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression sent an urgent appeal to the Islamic Republic of Iran concerning the situation of Mr. Mohamad Sadigh Kaboudvand.

On 17 November 2008, the Working Group sent a joint communication together with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, regarding the threats and acts of intimidation suffered by five human rights defenders due to their activities related to the investigation of enforced disappearances.

On 27 November 2008, the Special Rapporteur, along with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, issued a press release regarding the ongoing harassment and intimidation of members of the One Million Signatures Campaign in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In 2011, the Working Group on arbitrary detention, the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers sent a joint urgent appeal concerning the alleged arrest, detention and subsequent sentencing of two lawyers on fabricated charges.

In 2005, the Special Representative on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on the right to freedom of opinion and expression sent a communication to Chile regarding the excessive use of force by the police during a peaceful demonstration by an indigenous community, as well as the detention of two human rights defenders on charges of desórdenes públicos and amenaza a Carabineros en servicio.

On 29 September 2008, the Working Group sent a joint communication together with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, regarding the threats and acts of intimidation suffered by a person due to his activities related to the protection of victims of enforced disappearances.
243- وبتاريخ 29 أيلول/سبتمبر 2008، بعث الفريق العامل برسالة مشتركة مع الممثل الخاص للأمين العام المعني بحالة المدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان والمقرر الخاص المعني بتعزيز وحماية الحق في حرية الرأي والتعبير، وذلك فيما يخص التهديدات وأعمال التخويف التي يتعرض لها الأشخاص بسبب أنشطتهم المتصلة بحماية ضحايا الاختفاء القسري.
