Given the changes that women in Algeria have undergone and the active role played by women's associations and the Algerian elite generally, there are grounds for a thorough review of the Family Code, which President Boudiaf has described as the " Code de l'Infamie " .

In view of the tangible improvement in the status of women in Algeria today, thanks not only to political will to upgrade that status but also to striking progress in the work of promoting their rights, the State intends to continue its efforts in the fields of women's education and training, women's health and women's employment, and in the political arena as well, endeavouring to achieve even greater progress.
مراعاة للتحسينات الجلية الملاحظة في مجال وضع المرأة في الجزائر وذلك من جهة بفضل الإرادة السياسية المؤيدة لتلك التحسينات، ومن جهة أخرى بفضل التقدم الملحوظ في تعزيز حقوق المرأة، تعتزم الدولة مواصلة جهودها في ميدان التعليم، والتدريب، والصحة، وتشغيل النساء، وفي الأوساط السياسية بغية تحقيق مزيد من التقدم في هذا المجال.
