The observer for Chile conveyed the commitment of the Government of Chile to an integrated educational system which promoted and protected indigenous culture and languages, thus improving their living conditions; agreed on the importance of working in close cooperation with indigenous representatives; briefed the participants on some initiatives undertaken in this field.
٨٦- ونقل المراقب عن شيلي التزام الحكومة الشيلية بنظام تعليمي متكامل يهدف إلى تعزيز وحماية ثقافة ولغات الشعوب اﻷصلية، وبالتالي تحسين ظروفها المعيشية؛ ووافق على أهمية العمل بالتعاون الوثيق مع ممثلي الشعوب اﻷصلية في هذا المضمار؛ وأطلع المشتركين على بعض المبادرات المنفذة في هذا الميدان.

The observer for Chile stated that the RALCO hydroelectric project had been approved by the National Corporation for the Environment after intensive study. It would be implemented in line with indigenous legislation, with full consultation, and offered opportunities for economic development.
٠٧- وأشار المراقب عن شيلي إلى أن المؤسسة الوطنية للبيئة وافقت على مشروع رالكو الكهربيمائي بعدما أعدت عنه دراسة مستفيضة، وإلى أنه سينفذ وفقاً لتشريع السكان اﻷصليين وبالتشاور التام معهم، وسيتيح الفرص المناسبة لتحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية.

360. At the 22nd meeting, on 28 September 2007, a general comment in connection with the resolutions adopted under item 9 (resolutions 6/21, 6/22 and 6/23) was made by the observer for Chile.
