28. The Committee joins the concern expressed by the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination that the State party has not yet adopted measures with regard to transnational corporations registered in Canada whose activities negatively impact the rights of indigenous peoples in territories outside Canada, (CERD/C/CAN/CO/19-20, para. 14), in particular gas, oil, and mining companies.
28- تشاطر اللجنة لجنة القضاء على التمييز العنصري مشاعر القلق التي أعربت عنها لعدم اعتماد الدولة الطرف بعد تدابير بشأن الشركات عبر الوطنية المسجلة في كندا التي تؤثر أنشطتها سلباً على حقوق الشعوب الأصلية خارج كندا (CERD/C/CAN/CO/19-20، الفقرة 14)، ولا سيما شركات الغاز والنفط والتعدين.

In light of article 2.1 (d) and article 4 (a) and (b) of the Convention and of its general recommendation No. 23 (1997) on the rights of indigenous peoples, the Committee encourages the State party to take appropriate legislative or administrative measures to prevent acts of transnational corporations registered in Canada which negatively impact on the enjoyment of rights of indigenous peoples in territories outside Canada.
