11. Notwithstanding these protestations, the Sudanese authorities reiterated their willingness to cooperate fully with my Special Envoy and to comply with the request of the Security Council concerning the three suspects.
١١ - وبصرف النظر عن هذه الاحتجاجات، أعادت السلطات السودانية تأكيد رغبتها في التعاون التام مع مبعوثي الخاص والامتثال لطلب مجلس اﻷمن بشأن المشتبه فيهم الثلاثة.

On 29 October, an international judge at Pristina Basic Court ordered a one month detention on remand for the three suspects.
وفي 29 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر، أمر قاض دولي في محكمة بريشتينا الابتدائية باحتجاز المشتبه فيهم الثلاثة لمدة شهر على ذمة التحقيقات.

On 10 October, a EULEX judge ordered one month of detention on remand for the three suspects.

Whereas OAU, in its decision taken in December 1995, had asked the Sudan to look for, locate and then extradite the three suspects, the Security Council had based its resolution on the assumption that the suspects were in the Sudan and that the Sudan knew where they were.
ففي حين أن منظمة الوحدة الافريقية طلبت إلى السودان، في القرار الذي اتخذته في كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٥٩٩١، أن يقوم بالبحث عن المشتبه فيهم الثلاثة وبتحديد أماكن وجودهم وبتسليمهم، استند مجلس اﻷمن في قراره على افتراض أن المشتبه فيهم يوجدون في السودان وأن السودان على علم بأماكـن وجودهــم.

31. In view of the situation as described above, it is obvious that the Sudan has not yet complied with the demand of the Security Council to extradite the three suspects to Ethiopia and that all the neighbours of the Sudan, visited by my Special Envoy, have accused the Sudan of supporting terrorist activities within their territories.
١٣ - ونظرا للحالة الموصوفة أعلاه، من الواضح أن `١` السودان لم يمتثل بعد لطلب مجلس اﻷمن المتعلق بتسليم المشتبه فيهم الثلاثة إلى إثيوبيا؛ وأن `٢` جميع جيران السودان، الذين زارهم مبعوثي الخاص، اتهموه بدعم أنشطة اﻹرهاب داخل أقاليمهم.

Within this framework, I would like to urge, through you, both Ethiopia and Egypt, to collaborate with the Sudan by furnishing the information that they claim to have about the three suspects and their whereabouts, and to act jointly with it to implement the demands of the Central Organ meeting held on 18 and 19 December 1995.

During the night, Second Lieutenant Vásquez Alvarenga continued to interrogate the detainee and the latter agreed to point out the house of the other three suspects. 248/ All of them were subsequently detained.

But all these were in vain and the Sudan could not stop the Council from adopting resolution 1044 (1996), calling on the Sudan to hand over to Ethiopia the three suspects sheltering in its territory and further calling on the Sudanese Government to desist from engaging in activities of assisting, supporting and facilitating terrorist activities and from giving shelter and sanctuary to terrorist elements.
غير أن كل هذه المساعي قد ذهبت سُدى ولم يفلح السودان في منع المجلس من اتخاذ القرار ١٠٤٤ )١٩٩٦( الذي طلب الى السودان الى أن يسلم اثيوبيا المشتبه فيهم الثلاثة الذين يتخذون من أراضيه ملجأ لهم وطلب كذلك الى حكومة السودان الكف عن القيام بأنشطة مساعدة ودعم وتيسير اﻷنشطة اﻹرهابية وعن توفير الملجأ والملاذ للعناصر اﻹرهابية.
