The Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights of the Human Rights Committee pointed out that the right to social security was firmly grounded in international human rights law and that several treaties contained specific references to old-age protection through social security schemes.

14. In 2014, the Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights indicated that gender inequality and discrimination were among the main drivers of poverty and vulnerability, particularly in rural areas.

48. The Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights noted that the proportion of the population living in monetary poverty had increased markedly between 2002 and 2010.
48- لاحظت المقررة الخاصة المعنية بالفقر المدقع وحقوق الإنسان أن نسبة السكان الفقراء من الناحية النقدية قد ارتفعت بصورة ملحوظة في الفترة ما بين عامي 2002 و2010.

The Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights made similar remarks, noting that in 2013 the situation had further deteriorated, in part because of food insecurity.

62- ولاحظت المقررة الخاصة المعنية بالفقر المدقع وحقوق الإنسان أن غينيا - بيساو بلد فتي بصورة استثنائية، إذ تقل أعمار 65 في المائة من السكان عن 25 سنة.

70. The Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights also observed that Guinea-Bissau remained heavily dependent on overseas development assistance, which represented up to 15 per cent of its gross domestic product (GDP).
70- ولاحظت المقررة الخاصة المعنية بالفقر المدقع وحقوق الإنسان أيضاً أن غينيا - بيساو ما زالت تعتمد بقدر كبير على المساعدة الإنمائية الأجنبية، التي تمثل 15 في المائة من ناتجها المحلي الإجمالي.
