31. Important progress had been made towards setting up the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) at the first session of the plenary in Nairobi. IPBES was a key priority on the global agenda and the European Union was committed to its full operationalization.

His delegation welcomed the success of the tenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity and undertook to work with all partners to ensure the implementation of the 10-year strategy to protect biodiversity, the international protocol and the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.
