A major achievement for us and our distant-water fishing partners is the convention recently adopted by the Multilateral High-Level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific, which will protect the world's last great tuna fishery.

Second Multilateral High Level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific

We are pleased to note the progress made at the Multilateral High-level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific, held in the Marshall Islands earlier this year, on the development of a regional fisheries management arrangement for the Central and Western Pacific.
يسرنا أن نلاحظ التقدم الذي أحرز في المؤتمر الرفيع المستوى المتعدد اﻷطراف المعني بحفظ وإدارة اﻷرصدة السمكية الكثيرة الارتحال في غرب ووسط المحيط الهادئ، الذي عقد في جزر مارشال في وقت سابق من هذا العام، بشأن تعزيز ترتيبات إدارة المصايد اﻹقليمية في غرب ووسط المحيط الهادئ.

Training courses were conducted by the Agency on aspects of the Fish Stocks Agreement and the Multilateral High-level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific (MHLC), which was designed to implement the Agreement in the region.
وعقدت الوكالة دورات تدريبية بشأن جوانب اتفاق اﻷرصدة السمكية والمؤتمر الرفيع المستوى المتعدد اﻷطراف المعني بحفظ وإدارة اﻷرصدة السمكية الكثيرة الارتحال في غرب ووسط المحيط الهادئ، وذلك بهدف تنفيذ الاتفاق في المنطقة.

13. Leaders welcomed the successful outcome of the Second Multilateral High Level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific, held at Majuro in June 1997, and the Majuro Declaration that was adopted unanimously at the Conference.
١٣ - رحب الزعماء بالنتائج الناجحة للمؤتمر الثاني الرفيع المستوى المتعدد اﻷطراف المعني بحفظ وإدارة اﻷرصدة السمكية الكثيرة الارتحال في غرب ووسط المحيط الهادئ، الذي انعقد في ماجورو في حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٧ وبإعلان ماجورو الذي اعتمده المؤتمر باﻹجماع.

It had also drawn up a comprehensive programme to prepare for the coming into force of the Agreement and had participated in the Second Multilateral High-Level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific (Majuro, 10-13 June 1997), which adopted the Majuro Declaration by acclamation (see also para. 49).
كما أنها قد وضعت برنامجا شاملا لﻹعداد لدخول الاتفاق حيز النفاذ، وشاركت في الؤتمر الثاني الرفيع المستوى المتعدد اﻷطراف المعني بحفظ وإدارة اﻷرصدة السمكية الكثيرة الارتحال في غرب ووسط المحيط الهادئ، الذي عقد في ماجورو في الفقرة ١٠ إلى ١٣ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٧، والذي اعتمد إعلان ماجورو باﻹجماع ودون تصويت.

49. The South Pacific Forum Fisheries Agency reported that, in relation to steps taken to implement the 1995 Fish Stocks Agreement, the Second Multilateral High-Level Conference on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific (Majuro, 10-13 June 1997) had focused on measures to implement the Agreement.
