Under the auspices of the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat, a questionnaire was designed and the sixth survey was conducted on the two issues combined.

Encourages relevant specialized agencies, United Nations programmes and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as other professional organizations, to cooperate with the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat in the preparations for the Eleventh Congress;

It is therefore recommended that the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat be directed to conduct a more detailed study of the problem, for submission to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its eleventh session.

The present report has been prepared by the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in response to General Assembly resolution 57/244 of 20 December 2002, complementing the previous report of the Secretary-General (A/57/158 and Add.1 and 2) with an additional response provided by Lebanon.

112- وعقب بيان استهلالي أدلى به مدير المركز المعني بمنع الإجرام الدولي التابع لمكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة، استمعت اللجنة إلى بيانات من ممثلي الولايات المتحدة وزمبابوي (باسم مجموعة الدول الأفريقية)، ومن المراقبين عن أستراليا، وتايلند، وفنـزويلا، وكندا.

Analysis of the replies to the survey was undertaken by the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the Secretariat, in cooperation with the National Institute of Justice of the United States Department of Justice, an associated institute of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme network.
4- وقد اضطلع المركز المعني بمنع الإجرام الدولي التابع للأمانة العامة بعملية تحليل للإجابات الواردة ردّا على الدراسة الاستقصائية وذلك بالتعاون مع المعهد الوطني للعدالة التابع لوزارة العدل بالولايات المتحدة، وهو يعتبر واحدا من المعاهد المنتسبة لشبكة برنامج الأمم المتحدة لمنع الجريمة والعدالة الجنائية.

It should be recalled that, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 55/188 of 20 December 2000, the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime submitted a report on prevention of corrupt practices and illegal transfer of funds to the Assembly at its fifty-sixth session (A/56/403 and Add.1).
2- ينبغي استذكار أن المركز المعني بمنع الإجرام الدولي التابع لمكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة قد قدّم، بمقتضى قرار الجمعية العامة 55/188 المؤرخ 20 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2000، تقريرا حول منع ممارسات الفساد وإحالة الأموال على نحو غير مشروع، إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها السادسة والخمسين (A/56/403 وAdd.1).

In its resolution 2003/31, the Economic and Social Council requested the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to submit to the Commission at its thirteenth session a report on the status of implementation of the mandates assigned to it by or through the recommendation of the Commission, including information on the requirements of such implementation.
16- وفي قراره 2003/31، طلب المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، إلى المركز المعني بمنع الإجرام الدولي التابع لمكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة أن يقدّم إلى اللجنة، في دورتها الثالثة عشرة، تقريرا عن حالة تنفيذ الولايات المسندة إليه من جانب اللجنة أو بتوصية منها، يتضمن معلومات عن متطلبات ذلك التنفيذ.

In its resolution 2003/25, the Council expressed the need to have adequate resources available in order to make progress in the further operationalization of the activities of the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and in order to implement the projects carried out under the global programmes against trafficking in human beings, terrorism, corruption and organized crime.
وأعرب المجلس، في قراره 2003/25، عن الحاجة إلى إتاحة موارد كافية لاحراز تقدم في مواصلة اضفاء الطابع العملي على أنشطة المركز المعني بمنع الإجرام الدولي التابع لمكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة، وبغية تنفيذ المشاريع المضطلع بها في إطار البرامج العالمية لمكافحة الاتجار بالأشخاص والارهاب والفساد والجريمة المنظمة.

(a) To support the efforts of the Centre for International Crime Prevention of the Secretariat to promote ratification of the Convention and the protocols thereto through regional seminars and provide pre- and post-ratification assistance to signatory States by providing financial contributions, expertise and/or other forms of assistance;
(أ) دعم جهود المركز المعني بمنع الإجرام الدولي التابع للأمانة العامة، الرامية إلى الترويج للتصديق على الاتفاقية والبروتوكولات الملحقة بها، من خلال تنظيم حلقات دراسية إقليمية، وتقديم المساعدة قبل التصديق وبعده الى الدول الموقّعة، عن طريق تقديم المساهمات المالية و/أو الخبرة و/أو غير ذلك من أشكال المساعدة؛
