وبموجب المادة ٤٢ من الاتفاقية ذاتها، تلتزم الدول اﻷطراف بمكافحة اﻷمراض وسوء التغذية عن طريق أمور منها توفير اﻷغذية المغذية الكافية ومياه الشرب النقية.

States have under article 27 recognized the right of every child to an adequate standard of living, and under article 24, States have committed themselves to combat malnutrition through, inter alia, the provision of adequate nutritious foods and clean drinking water.
وقد اعترفت الدول بموجب المادة 27، بحق كل طفل في مستوى معيشي مناسب، وتعهدت، بموجب المادة 24، بمكافحة سوء التغذية من خلال جملة أمور، منها توفير الأطعمة المغذية الكافية ومياه الشرب النظيفة.

وتنص هذه المادة على أنه ينبغي للدول أن تسعى إلى " الإعمال الكامل " لحق الطفل في التمتع بأعلى مستوى صحي يمكن بلوغه وأنه ينبغي لها لذلك اتخاذ التدابير المناسبة لمكافحة الأمراض وسوء التغذية حتى في إطار الرعاية الصحية الأولية، عن طريق أمور منها تطبيق التكنولوجيا المتاحة بسهولة وتوفير الأغذية المغذية الكافية ومياه الشرب النقية.

More specifically, article 24.2(c) of the Convention provides that States Parties shall pursue full implementation of the right of the child to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and, in particular, shall take appropriate measures " to combat disease and malnutrition... through the provision of adequate nutritious foods and clean drinking water, taking into consideration the dangers and risks of environmental pollution. "
74- وبوجه خاص، تنص المادة 24-2(ج) من الاتفاقية على أن تسعى الدول الأطراف إلى الإعمال الكامل لحق الطفل في التمتُّع بأعلى مستوى من الصحة يمكن بلوغه، وأن تتخذ جميع التدابير الملائمة من أجل " مكافحة الأمراض وسوء التغذية ... عن طريق توفير الأغذية المغذية الكافية ومياه الشرب النقية، آخذةً في اعتبارها أخطار تلوُّث البيئة ومخاطره " .
