The Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre was established in 1975 as a national agency responsible for aerial and land surveying and producing various topographic, operational and thematic maps.

The Committee welcomed with satisfaction the inauguration on 29 May 2012 of the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education for Western Asia, affiliated to the United Nations, hosted by the Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre and located in Amman.
97- ورحَّبت اللجنة بارتياح بالقيام، في 29 أيار/مايو 2012، بافتتاح المركز المنتسب إلى الأمم المتحدة لتدريس علوم وتكنولوجيا الفضاء لغرب آسيا، الذي يستضيفه المركز الجغرافي الملكي الأردني في عمان.

The Royal Jordanian Geographical Centre is currently engaged in an examination of relevant international legislation with a view to preparing a statutory form in Jordan, the objective of which will be to maintain national rights and sovereignty in space, as well as to define the resulting duties.
ويعمل المركز الجغرافي الملكي الأردني حاليا على دراسة التشريعات الدولية ذات الصلة بغية إعداد صيغة قانونية تشريعية في الأردن تهدف إلى حفظ الحقوق الوطنية والسيادة على المجال الفضائي الأردني وما يترتَّب على ذلك من واجبات.

The Centre, hosted by the Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre in Amman, was formally inaugurated on 29 May 2012 following the signing of bilateral agreements on the establishment of the Centre by representatives of Governments of Member States from Western Asia and the constitution of its Governing Board on 28 May 2012.
ويستضيف المركزُ الجغرافي الملكي الأردني في عمّان هذا المركز الذي تم افتتاحه رسميا في 29 أيار/مايو 2012 عقب توقيع ممثلين عن حكومات الدول الأعضاء من غربي آسيا على اتفاقات ثنائية بشأن إنشائه وتأسيس مجلس إدارته في 28 أيار/مايو 2012.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is recognized as one of the foremost States in the Arab world with regard to geographical names. The Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre, which oversees and hosts the National Committee on Geographical Names, has issued numerous publications, including, inter alia, maps, plans, atlases, books and glossaries, in both printed and digital form, with a view to preserving geographical designations in Jordan.
