The report acknowledges the persistence of gender stereotypes in the country; however, it provides little information on concrete actions taken by the State party to eliminate prejudices and customary and all other practices based on the idea of the inferiority or superiority of either of the sexes or on stereotyped roles for men and women, including by ensuring that its policies and programmes do not perpetuate gender stereotypes.

Turkmenistan is taking all appropriate measures to modify the social and cultural patterns of conduct of men and women, with a view to achieving the elimination of prejudices and customary and all other practices which are based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the sexes or on stereotyped roles for men and women.
85- تتخذ تركمانستان جميع التدابير المناسبة لتعديل الأنماط الاجتماعية والثقافية لسلوك الرجل والمرأة لتحقيق القضاء على التحيزات والعادات العرفية وكل الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على فكرة دونية أو تفوق أحد الجنسين أو على أدوار نمطية للرجل والمرأة.

(ط) اتخاذ جميع التدابير المناسبة، ولا سيما في ميدان التعليم، لتعديل أنماط السلوك الاجتماعية والثقافية للرجل والمرأة، والقضاء على التحيز والممارسات العرفية وكل الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على فكرة دونية أي من الجنسين أو تفوقه وعلى القوالب النمطية فيما يتعلق بدور الرجل والمرأة؛

Article 5 of the Convention calls on States parties to take all appropriate measures to modify the patterns of conduct of men and women " with a view to achieving the elimination of prejudices and customary and all other practices that are based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the sexes or on stereotyped roles for men and women " .
وتدعو الاتفاقية في مادتها 5 الدول الأطراف إلى أن تعتمد جميع التدابير المناسبة لتعديل أنماط سلوك الرجال والنساء، ' ' بهدف تحقيق القضاء على التحيزات والعادات العرفية وكل الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على الاعتقاد بكون أي من الجنسين أدنى أو أعلى من الآخر، أو على أدوار نمطية للرجل والمرأة``.
