The International Fund for the Return of Cultural Property to its Countries of Origin or its Restitution in Case of Illicit Appropriation was created by the UNESCO General Conference in November 1999, pursuant to Recommendation No. 6 adopted by the Committee at its tenth session, and officially launched on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the 1970 UNESCO Convention.
