31. The only issue on which the Ivorian parties initially expressed divergent views was the role the United Nations should play in the electoral process and, in particular, the certification and arbitration roles of the High Representative for the elections.

In its resolution 1765 (2007), the Security Council terminated the mandate of the High Representative for the elections in Côte d'Ivoire, entrusted the Special Representative of the Secretary-General with the responsibility of certifying all stages of the electoral process and requested that a support cell be made available to provide appropriate assistance to fulfil this task.
وأنهى مجلس الأمن في قراره 1765 (2007) ولاية الممثل السامي للانتخابات في كوت ديفوار وعهد إلى الممثل الخاص للأمين العام بمسؤولية التصديق على جميع مراحل العملية الانتخابية، وطلب إنشاء خلية دعم لتوفير كل مساعدة لازمة للاضطلاع بهذه المهمة.
