Accordingly, in December 2009, the Forum secretariat, in collaboration with ITTO, organized a two-day brainstorming workshop aimed at identifying basic elements for a strategy on North-South, South-South and triangular cooperation on sustainable forest management for consideration by the Forum at its ninth session.

It was held in response to the invitation addressed to the Collaborative Partnership in the resolution entitled " Forests for people, livelihoods and poverty eradication " , adopted by the Forum at its ninth session (see E/2011/42-E/CN.18/2011/20), and the resolution entitled " Means of implementation for sustainable forest management " , adopted at the special session of the ninth session, held in October 2009 (see E/2009/118-E/CN.18/SS/2009/2).
