The Forum, at its third session, requested an analysis of various options for international arrangements and mechanisms to further develop international forest policy deliberations for action in order to promote the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests, focusing on the ability of these options to effectively perform functions to address elements and estimate the costs of such options.

(a) Prepare a document, in consultation with the Convention to Combat Desertification in those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, particularly in Africa, that will enable the Forum at its third session to consider options for action based on practical, innovative real-life experiences with land rehabilitation in countries covering a wide range of environmental, social and economic conditions;
