While we welcome in this connection the report of the Secretary-General on arrangements and practices for the interaction of non-governmental organizations in all activities of the United Nations system, we would also like to offer some comments that we hope will enrich the current dialogue on this very important subject.

The Secretary-General’s report entitled “Arrangements and practices for the interaction of non-governmental organizations in all activities of the United Nations system” makes it clear that non-governmental organizations are currently participating in a multitude of issues covered by various United Nations programmes.

She was however skeptical of the compatibility of the work of NGOs with Information Centres and considered that the Tribunal should focus on its completion strategy.
