As I warmly welcome you to Brazzaville, I should first like to thank you for having entrusted the Congo with the organization of both the thirty-fifth ministerial meeting of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee and the commemoration of its twentieth anniversary.

The Centre continued to provide substantive and technical support related to disarmament issues to the meetings of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa, in particular at the thirty-fifth ministerial meeting of the Committee, held in Brazzaville, in December 2012.

The Secretary-General looks forward to the thirty-fifth ministerial meeting and the celebration of the Committee's twentieth anniversary, to be held in Brazzaville in December 2012, and hopes that these events will afford an opportunity to learn from the Committee's past successes and lay the foundation for its future work.

In the course of the thirty-fifth ministerial meeting of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa, held in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, from 3 to 6 December 2012, the following recommendations were made:

4. The thirty-fifth ministerial meeting of the Committee, held from 3 to 5 December 2012 in Brazzaville, was attended by the 11 States members of the Committee: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda and Sao Tome and Principe.

The celebration, which would take place at the thirty-fifth ministerial meeting of the Committee in December 2012, would include a solemn observance preceded by two days of expert meetings on the topic " Two decades of peacebuilding in Central Africa: the contribution and perspectives of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa " .
