58. The UNEP Regional Office for West Asia has been providing support in the field of environment and sustainable development to the League of Arab States through the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE).
58 - ويقدم المكتب الإقليمي لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة دعمه في مجال البيئة والتنمية المستدامة إلى جامعة الدول العربية عن طريق الأمانة الفنية لمجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن شؤون البيئة.

The general secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment has called for all national and Arab efforts to be stepped up to check the causes of degradation, conserve land and rehabilitate degraded land in order to achieve the optimum linkage between the demands of sustainable development, the fight against poverty and emigration and the demands of environmental conservation.
وقد دعت الأمانة العامة لمجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن شؤون البيئة كذلك إلى تكثيف كافة الجهود الوطنية والعربية لوقف أسباب التدهور والمحافظة على الأراضي وإعادة تأهيل المتدهور منها بما يحقق الربط الأمثل بين متطلبات التنمية المستدامة ومحاربة الفقر والهجرة ودواعي حماية البيئة.

The Joint Committee is composed of representatives from ESCWA, the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE), the Department for Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat and the United Nations Environment Programme/Regional Office for Western Asia (UNEP/ROWA).

The session was chaired by Fadhil Abbas Ahmed, Iraq (Chair of the 2013 session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment) along with representatives from the organizing partners LAS, ESCWA and UNEP as well as the host country, the United Arab Emirates.
وترأس الجلسة السيد فاضل عباس أحمد، العراق (رئيس مجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن شؤون البيئة في دورته لعام 2013) إلى ممثلين عن الشركاء المنظِّمين المتمثلين وهم جامعة الدول العربية والإسكوا وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة بالإضافة إلى البلد المضيف، الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

To charge the Secretariat-General with calling for a joint meeting of the Executive Offices of the Council of Arab Ministers responsible for environmental affairs and Council of Arab Ministers of Information and Communication Technology, with the participation of experts from the Arab States with practical experience of satellites;

The Secretariat-General called for a joint meeting of the Executive Offices of the Council of Arab Ministers responsible for environmental affairs and Council of Arab Ministers of Information and Communication Technology. The meeting was held on 2 May 2007 at the headquarters of the Secretariat-General of the League of Arab States and the following resolution was adopted:
قامت الأمانة العامة بتوجيه الدعوة لعقد الاجتماع المشترك للمكتبين التنفيذيين لكل من مجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن شؤون البيئة ومجلس الوزراء العرب للاتصالات والمعلومات، حيث عقد الاجتماع المشترك للمكتبين يوم 2/5/2007 بمقر الأمانة العامة للجامعة وصدر عنه القرار التالي نصه:

Delegates also considered a proposal that CAMRE produce a work programme on the environment for the period up to 2005.
كما نظر المندوبون في اقتراح يدعو مجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن شؤون البيئة إلى وضع برنامج عمل بشأن البيئة للفترة التي تنتهي في عام 2005.
