The technical group will be established under the umbrella of the National Geographic Information system of Guatemala, which was launched by the National Geographic Institute in 1997.

In 2008, the National Geographic Information Institute published a national atlas of the Republic of Korea, which contained synthesized national physical and human geography information and an English-language gazetteer.

He also introduced a new organizational structure in the Government of the Republic of Korea, which merged land surveys, cadastre and marine surveys into one entity, as well as a new role for the National Geographic Information Institute.

The mission enabled UN-SPIDER staff to assess the impact of the catastrophe in light of the reduced capacity of the National Civil Protection Agency and the National Geospatial Information Centre to generate and use information, particularly maps, as a result of the destruction of infrastructure and the loss of key senior officials.
24- ومكّنت البعثة موظفي برنامج سبايدر من تقييم أثر الكارثة في ضوء انخفاض قدرة الوكالة الوطنية للحماية المدنية والمركز الوطني للمعلومات الجغرافية الفضائية على توليد المعلومات واستخدامها، لا سيما الخرائط، نتيجة للدمار الذي أصاب البنية التحتية وفقدان عدد من كبار المسؤولين.

The papers described toponymic data collection, processing and maintenance carried out by the National Geographic Information Institute and its Central Geographical Names Committee.

99. The report of the Republic of Korea outlined how, since 2003, a geographical names management system had been developed by the National Geographic Information Institute with the participation of local governments (see E/CONF.101/116/Add.1).

(a) The National Geographic Information system should be consolidated and implemented and a coordination working group should be established, bringing together experts representing key stakeholders so as to ensure the sharing and use of geospatial information within the various ministries;

Simon Costello, Group Leader, National Geographic Information Group, Geoscience Australia, presented a paper entitled " The role of national geospatial authorities in disaster management -- Australian perspectives 2010-2013 " (E/CONF.102/IP.10).
وتولى سيمون كاستيللو، رئيس الفريق الوطني للمعلومات الجغرافية بوكالة علوم الأرض في أستراليا، عرض ورقة معنونة ' ' دور السلطات الوطنية المعنية بالمعلومات الجغرافية المكانية في إدارة الكوارث - وجهات نظر أسترالية 2010-2013`` (E/CONF.102/IP.10).

34. At the same meeting, Kwon Jay-Hyoun, Senior Adviser, National Geographic Information Institute, Republic of Korea, presented a paper entitled " Republic of Korea geodetic framework for sustainable development " (E/CONF.102/IP.17).

Subsequently, UN-SPIDER conducted a follow-up mission to Washington, D.C., to meet representatives of the World Bank and the Office of United States Foreign Disaster Assistance to discuss assistance in rebuilding the capacities of the National Geospatial Information Centre.

At the request of UN-SPIDER staff, representatives of that company conducted a mission to Haiti in May 2010 to meet staff of the National Geospatial Information Centre, the National Civil Protection Agency, MINUSTAH, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and other agencies to demonstrate the usefulness of the tool.
