In its resolution 50/166 on the role of the United Nations Development Fund for Women in eliminating violence against women, the General Assembly requested the Fund to include in its regular reports information regarding its activities to eliminate violence against women and girls and to provide such information to the Commission on the Status of Women and the Commission on Human Rights.

٢٦ - وتعلقت مشاريع عديدة دعمها، خلال عام ١٩٩٨، الصندوق الاستئماني المعني بدعم اﻹجراءات الرامية الى القضاء على العنف ضد المرأة، الذي يديره صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي للمرأة، بتدابير تهدف الى معالجة الاتجار بالنساء والفتيات.

The present report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 52/86 of 12 December 1997, entitled “Crime prevention and criminal justice measures to eliminate violence against women”, by which the Assembly adopted the Model Strategies and Practical Measures on the Elimination of Violence against Women in the Field of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, annexed to the resolution.

Ms. MUÑOZ-GOMEZ noted that the Government of Bolivia had recently made genuine efforts to promote equal rights for women, especially through the establishment of the Office of the Under-Secretary for Gender Affairs. However, it was only within the framework of participatory democracy that the overall effort to eradicate violence against women and achieve equality for women in Bolivia could be realized.
