It is for this reason that I recently decided to send to Liberia a fact-finding mission headed by Mr. Lakhdar Brahimi.

I stressed that such action would encourage the international community to disburse some of the funds that had been pledged at the Conference on Assistance to Liberia.
وأكدت لهم أن هذا الاجراء سيشجع المجتمع الدولي على صرف بعض اﻷموال التي تم التعهد بها في المؤتمر المعني بتقديم المساعدة الى ليبريا.

Considering that, in view of the inability of ECOWAS to obtain the assistance it was entitled to, the prospect of peace returning to Liberia has become more elusive;
وإذ تعتبر أنه نظرا لعدم قدرة الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب افريقيا على الحصول على المساعدة التي تحق لها، أصبح احتمال عودة السلام الى ليبريا أبعد منالا؛

They also renewed their appeal to the international community to provide financial resources to ECOWAS and logistic support to ECOMOG for the restoration of peace to Liberia.
وجددوا أيضا نداءهم الى المجتمع الدولي بتوفير الموارد المالية للجماعة الاقتصادية والدعم السوقي لفريق المراقبين التابع للجماعة الاقتصادية ﻹعادة السلم الى ليبريا.

In order to assess the requirements in the evolving implementation of the Abuja Agreement, I plan to dispatch a mission in the near future to Liberia to consult with the Liberian leaders and other interested parties.
ومن أجل تقييم الاحتياجات اللازمة لعملية تنفيذ اتفاق أبوجا المتطورة، فإنني أزمع إيفاد بعثة الى ليبريا في المستقبل القريب للتشاور مع الزعماء الليبيرين وسائر اﻷطراف المعنية.

٤٤ - وإنني أعتزم أن أتشاور مع رئيس الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب افريقيا بشأن إمكانية عقد مؤتمر لتقديم التبرعات الى ليبريا بأسرع ما يمكن، من أجل تدبير الموارد المطلوبة لفريق المراقبين العسكريين والاحتياجات الضرورية اﻷخرى اللازمة لتقدم عملية السلام في ليبريا.
