24. On 2 December 2013, the Secretary-General made the following statement to commemorate the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery:
24 - في 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2013، أدلى الأمين العام بالبيان التالي بمناسبة إحياء اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق:

This year's International Day for the Abolition of Slavery comes as the international community is intensifying efforts to eradicate poverty and forge a post-2015 development agenda.
لقد حل اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق لهذا العام في وقت يعمل فيه المجتمع الدولي على تكثيف الجهود الرامية إلى القضاء على الفقر ووضع خطة للتنمية لما بعد عام 2015.

In that context, the upcoming International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, to be celebrated on 2 December, provides a signal opportunity to renew our common struggle to remove that scourge from all societies.
وفي ذلك الإطار، يتيح اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق الذي سيحتفل به في 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر فرصة عظيمة لتجديد كفاحنا المشترك لإزالة هذا البلاء من كل المجتمعات.

(a) On the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, we express our commitment to the complete eradication of slavery and slavery-like practices.

27. In line with the message of the Secretary-General on International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, 2 December 2013, donors and potential donors are encouraged to support the Fund so that it can provide crucial rehabilitation assistance to victims of slavery worldwide.
27 - وتمشيا مع الرسالة التي وجهها الأمين العام بمناسبة اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق، في 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2013، يُشجَّع المانحون والمانحون المحتملون على دعم الصندوق حتى يتسنى له تقديم المساعدة من أجل إعادة الاعتبار لضحايا الرق في جميع أنحاء العالم.

On the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery on 2 December 2008, in a joint effort with UNESCO and other organizations, a documentary produced by UNESCO, Slave routes: a global vision, was screened to increase awareness of issues contained in the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.
وبمناسبة اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق، الذي صادف 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2008، عُرض شريط وثائقي أنتجته اليونسكو، بعنوان " طرق الرقيق: رؤية عالمية " ، لزيادة الوعي بالقضايا التي يتضمنها إعلان وبرنامج عمل ديربان.

39. The Board stressed the importance of the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery (2 December) as an annual occasion to raise awareness of the issue and recommended that the Chair continue to make a statement on that occasion.
39 - وشدد المجلس على أهمية اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق (2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر) كمناسبة سنوية لإذكاء الوعي بهذه المسألة، وأوصى بأن يواصل الرئيس الإدلاء ببيان بهذه المناسبة.

73. The celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Fund will culminate with an event on 2 December 2011, the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, which could include the participation of Board members, the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery, former fund grantees, non-governmental organizations and Governments.
73 - وسيُتوج الاحتفال بالذكرى العشرين للصندوق بمناسبة تعقد في 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2011، اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق، الذي يمكن أن تشارك فيه أعضاء المجلس، والمقرر الخاص المعني بأشكال الرق المعاصرة، والحاصلون على منح سابقا، والمنظمات غير الحكومية والحكومات.

25. The Board agreed to send a letter signed by the Chair to all Permanent Missions and delegations to the United Nations Office at Geneva appealing for contributions to the Fund on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, 2 December 2009 (see statement in sect. VI).
25 - ووافق المجلس على توجيه رسالة موقعة من الرئيس إلى جميع البعثات والوفود الدائمة لدى مكتب الأمم المتحدة في جنيف يناشدهم فيها التبرع للصندوق بمناسبة اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق، في 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2009 (انظر البيان في الفرع السادس).

37. The Board stressed the importance of the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery as an annual occasion to raise awareness of the issue, and recommended that the Chair deliver a statement on that occasion, if possible, together with other relevant United Nations organs (see Board statement in sect. VI).

The United Nations marks 2 December each year as the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery to remind the international community that slavery is not a practice that has been banished, but one which continues to blight lives and to demand action to prevent contemporary forms of slavery and to protect and assist more than twelve million adults and children who are currently victims.
تحتفل الأمم المتحدة بيوم 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر من كل عام بوصفه اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق، من أجل تذكير المجتمع الدولي بأن الرق ليس ممارسة قد انتهت، ولكنها ممارسة ما زالت تفسد حياة البشر، والمطالبة باتخاذ إجراء لمنع أشكال الرق المعاصرة وتوفير الحماية والمساعدة لما يربو على اثني عشر مليونا من البالغين والأطفال يعدون ضحايا في الوقت الراهن.

25. During its annual session, the Board noted the Secretary-General's statement on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, 2 December 2010, in which he appealed to all Member States to contribute generously to the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, which has helped thousands of victims to recover their lives and dignity.
25 - وخلال الدورة السنوية، أحاط المجلس علما ببيان الأمين العام بمناسبة اليوم الدولي لإلغاء الرق، 2 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2010، الذي ناشد فيه جميع الدول الأعضاء بأن تساهم بسخاء لصندوق الأمم المتحدة الاستئماني للتبرعات لمكافحة أشكال الرق المعاصرة، الذي ساعد آلاف الضحايا على إعادة بناء حياتهم واسترداد كرامتهم.
