In this connection, I should be grateful if the frequency of reports on the compliance by Iraq with its obligations regarding the repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains could be reduced from every four months to every six months.

On 15 August the Secretary-General issued his ninth report on compliance by Iraq with its obligations under resolution 1284 (1999), regarding the repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains.

He informed the Council that the Commission was not in a position to provide the Council with any level of assurance of Iraq's compliance with its obligations not to retain proscribed weapons or re-establish related activities.
