وذكر أن اللجنة طالبت بصك يمكّن الدول الأطراف في الاتفاقية التي ترغب في ذلك، وبعد التصديق على البروتوكول الاختياري، من رفع الحد الأدنى لسن التجنيد الإجباري أو انخراط الأطفال في القوات المسلحة، والاشتراك المباشر وغير المباشر في الأعمال القتالية، إلى سن 18 سنة.

5. By its resolution 54/263 of 25 May 2000 (annex I), the General Assembly adopted the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict.
5 - وبقرارها 54/263 المؤرخ 25 أيار/مايو 2000 (المرفق الأول)، اعتمدت الجمعية العامة البروتوكول الاختياري لاتفاقية حقوق الطفل بشأن انخراط الأطفال في الصراع المسلح.

(a) Ensure that no child is exposed to any hazardous conditions or the worst forms of child labour, and that the involvement of children in labour is based on genuine free choice, in accordance with international regulations, subject to reasonable time limits and does not in any way hamper their education;
(أ) ضمان عدم تعرض أي طفل لظروف عمل خطرة أو لأسوأ أشكال عمل الأطفال، وأن يقوم انخراط الأطفال في العمل على خيار حرّ حقاً، وأن يمتثل عملهم للوائح الدولية، ويجري ضمن أطر زمنية معقولة ولا يعوق تعليمهم بأي شكل من الأشكال؛
