In furtherance of the efforts of the Government of Liberia to discourage Liberian citizens from complicating the crisis in Sierra Leone and to ensure compliance with the laws and conventions relating to mercenaries, the Government of Liberia undertakes the following:

The efforts of ECOWAS and its Monitoring Group, ECOMOG, in resolving the crisis in Sierra Leone through the peaceful restoration of the constitutional order deserve the active support of the international community.
وتستحق جهود الجماعة الاقتصادية، وفريق الرصد التابع لها، فريق المراقبين العسكريين من أجل حل اﻷزمة في سيراليون من خلال إقامة النظام الدستوري من جديد بالوسائل السلمية دعما فاعلا من المجتمع الدولي.

In order to provide a practical opportunity for the victims of the Sierra Leone crisis to rebuild their lives and communities, the Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture has set aside an amount of $300,000 for emergency assistance for victims of torture in countries where assistance is lacking.

It urges all States and relevant international organizations to continue to assist those countries dealing with the influx of refugees caused by the crisis in Sierra Leone.
ويحث المجلس جميع الدول والمنظمات الدولية ذات الصلة على الاستمرار في مساعدة البلدان التي تعالج تدفق اللاجئين بسبب اﻷزمة في سيراليون.

The Council also expresses its concern at the effects of the continuing influx of refugees into neighbouring countries, in particular Guinea, due to the crisis in Sierra Leone.
كما يعــرب المجلس عن قلقه إزاء اﻵثار المترتبة على استمرار تدفق اللاجئين إلى البلدان المجاورة، وبخاصة غينيا، بسبب اﻷزمة في سيراليون.

It urges all States and relevant international organizations to continue to assist those countries dealing with the influx of refugees caused by the crisis in Sierra Leone.
ويحث المجلس جميع الدول والمنظمات الدولية ذات الصلــة على الاستمرار في مساعدة البلــدان التي تعالـج تدفــق اللاجئين بسبب اﻷزمة في سيراليون.

Clearly, peace in Liberia will help to unblock the crisis in Sierra Leone and to establish in our subregion of West Africa an atmosphere of peace, security and lasting stability, which are all essential to our programme for economic integration.

14. The Ministers noted that the crisis in Sierra Leone had brought great suffering and hardship upon the people of that country and created colonies of refugees in ECOWAS member States, in particular in the neighbouring countries.
١٤ - ولاحظ الوزراء أن اﻷزمة في سيراليون قد سببت للشعب في ذلك البلد المعاناة الشديدة والمشقة، وأوجدت جاليات من اللاجئين في الدول اﻷعضاء في الجماعة.

the crisis in Sierra Leone needs urgent attention, and we join the Secretary-General's call to the leaders of the military junta and support his continuing efforts to encourage them to respect the rule of law and make every effort to restore democracy in that country.

The nature of the crisis in Sierra Leone calls for a rehabilitation and reconstruction effort designed to address causal factors; relief and settlement measures should lay the foundation for capacity building and sustainable human development in the future.
كما تستدعي طبيعة اﻷزمة في سيراليون بذل جهود للانعاش والتعمير تهدف إلى معالجة العوامل المسببة لذلك؛ وينبغي أن ترسي تدابير الاغاثة والتوطين اﻷساس لبناء القدرات وتحقيق التنمية البشرية المستدامة في المستقبل.

3. Expresses its strong support for the efforts of the ECOWAS Committee to resolve the crisis in Sierra Leone and encourages it to continue to work for the peaceful restoration of the constitutional order, including through the resumption of negotiations;
٣ - يعرب عن دعمه القوي للجهود التي تبذلها لجنة الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا في سبيل حل اﻷزمة في سيراليون ويشجعها على مواصلة عملها من أجل استعادة النظام الدستوري بالوسائل السلمية، بما في ذلك عن طريق استئناف المفاوضات؛

3. Expresses its strong support for the efforts of the Economic Community of West African States Committee to resolve the crisis in Sierra Leone, and encourages it to continue to work for the peaceful restoration of the constitutional order, including through the resumption of negotiations;

The bitter experience of my own country, in terms of the sacrifices that it made in deploying the Economic Community of West Africa States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) in Guinea-Bissau in 1999 and hosting the talks that led to the conclusion of the Lomé Agreement on the Sierra Leone crisis, remain very much in our minds.
