وقد دلت الدراسة الاستقصائية التي أصدرها برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الدولي لمراقبة المخدرات عام ١٩٩٦، أن هناك ما يقرب من ٠٠٠ ٥٧ هكتار مزروعة بالخشخاش وتدر ما يربــو على ٦٠ مليون دولار كإيراد سنوي لما يقرب من ٠٠٠ ٢٠٠ مزارع.

The Council recognized the critical role of the United Nations in addressing the global drug threat, while reaffirming the leadership and coordination role of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme in this area, and calling for coordinated action at all levels.
وسلم المجلس بالدور الهام الذي تضطلع به اﻷمم المتحدة في التصدي لخطر المخدرات على الصعيد العالمي، فيما أكد المجلس من جديد على الدور التنسيقي الرائد الذي يقوم به برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الدولي لمراقبة المخدرات في هذا المجال، وطالب باتخاذ إجراءات منسقة على جميع اﻷصعدة.

Welcomes the efforts of the Executive Director of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat to enhance the synergies between the United Nations International Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention, in conformity with the reform proposals of the Secretary-General;
١٢ - ترحب بالجهود التي يبذلها المدير التنفيذي لمكتب مراقبة المخدرات ومنع الجريمة التابع لﻷمانة العامة من أجل تعزيز التداؤب بين برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الدولي لمراقبة المخدرات ومركز منع الجريمة على الصعيد الدولي، وفقا لمقترحات اﻹصلاح التي قدمها اﻷمين العام؛

At present, the Committee undertakes regular reviews of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East; in addition, the Committee intends to pay close attention to that category of expenditure in the context of its examination of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995.
وتضطلع اللجنة حاليا باستعراضات منتظمة لبرنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الدولي لمراقبة المخدرات ووكالة اﻷمم المتحدة ﻹغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في الشرق اﻷدنى؛ وبالاضافة الى ذلك، تعتزم اللجنة توجيه اهتمام أوثق الى تلك الفئة من النفقات في سياق دراستها للميزانية البرنامجية المقترحة لفترة السنتين ٤٩٩١ - ٥٩٩١.

17. The United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) does not have a system of assessment, as the budget is financed from voluntary contributions, with accounting and reporting in United States dollars.
٧١ - وأما برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الدولي لمراقبة المخدرات )اليوندسيب( فليس لديه نظام لتقرير اﻷنصبة ، بما أن الميزانية تمول من اشتراكات طوعية ، ولكن عملة المحاسبة وتقارير الابلاغ هي دولار الولايات المتحدة .

(a) The interim office provides a framework, if possible on common premises, within which the United Nations and its programmes, funds and offices (usually UNDP, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF and WFP, but also the United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) if they are active in the country concerned) carry out their mandated activities in the country concerned;
