In this regard, the view was expressed that the issue of conversion into legally binding instruments of the Principles Governing the Use by States of Artificial Earth Satellites for International Direct Television Broadcasting6 and the Principles Relating to Remote Sensing of Earth from Outer Space7 should be listed among other items for possible inclusion in the agenda of the Legal Subcommittee.

70. He recalled that the General Assembly had adopted Principles relating to remote sensing of the Earth from Outer Space.

The principles most relevant to the topic of sustainability were the Principles Relating to remote sensing of the Earth from Outer Space, which had been adopted in 1986 with a view to ensuring that data collected from remote sensing activities carried out by different countries were made available as widely as possible.
