Increasingly, the scope of family policies related to intergenerational solidarity has been gradually expanding, from a focus on families with young children to the inclusion of all generations, an expansion warranted by rapidly ageing societies where family-oriented policies need to take into account the changing roles and demands of all generations (see A/68/61-E/2013/3, para. 46).
