He reminded participants of the objectives of the Group: " to study the problems of racial discrimination faced by people of African descent living in the diaspora " and to propose specific measures and provide recommendations on improving the human rights situation of people of African descent.
وذكَّر المشاركين بأهداف الفريق العامل، وهي: " دراسة المشاكل المتعلقة بالتمييز العنصري التي يواجهها السكان الذين ينحدرون من أصل أفريقي ويعيشون في الشتات " واقتراح تدابير محددة وتقديم توصيات بشأن تحسين حالة حقوق الإنسان للسكان المنحدرين من أصل أفريقي.

At the first meeting, the Chairperson-Rapporteur introduced agenda item 5 (a) concerning " problems of racial discrimination faced by people of African descent living in the diaspora and to discuss how to gather all relevant information from Governments, nongovernmental organizations and other relevant sources, including through holding public meetings with them " .
