The Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice was established by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 15/23, in which the Council acknowledged that women everywhere are still subject to significant disadvantage as the result of discriminatory laws and practices, and that de jure and de facto equality has not been achieved in any country in the world.

In the seventh preambular paragraph, the phrase " in which the Council established a working group of independent experts on the issue of discrimination against women in law and practice " should be deleted.
وفي الفقرة السابعة من الديباجة، ينبغي حذف الجملة " الذي أنشأ فيه المجلس فريقا عاملا متألفا من خبراء مستقلين ومعنيا بالتمييز ضد المرأة في القانون والممارسة " .

The Entity supported the country visits of special procedures, including the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, the Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice, the Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights and the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children.

Mr. Heaton (Canada) said that his delegation welcomed the decisions taken at the fifteenth session of the Human Rights Council to establish two new special procedures mandates, namely the Special Rapporteur on the right to freedom of association and peaceful assembly and a working group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice.

77. The Special Rapporteur encourages the Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and practice to document best practices with respect to women and the right to adequate housing, within the scope of its mandate to promote and exchange views on best practices related to the elimination of laws that discriminate against women or are discriminatory to women in terms of implementation or impact.
77- وتشجع المقررة الخاصة الفريق العامل المعني بالتمييز ضد المرأة في القانون وفي الممارسة على توثيق الممارسات الفضلى المتعلقة بحق المرأة في السكن اللائق، وذلك في إطار ولايته لتعزيز وتبادل وجهات النظر بشأن الممارسات الفضلى المتعلقة بإلغاء القوانين التي تميز ضد المرأة أو تنطوي على تمييز ضد المرأة من حيث التنفيذ أو الأثر.
