Among the main consequences of this initiative were the establishment of the National Commission on Political Imprisonment and Torture (the Valech Commission), the promulgation of laws granting reparations to Political Prisoners and Torture victims and additional compensation for the families of political prisoners who had disappeared and been executed, and the submission to Congress of a bill establishing the National Human Rights Institute.
وكان من أهم ثمارها إنشاء اللجنة الوطنية المعنية بالسجناء السياسيين والتعذيب (لجنة فاليش) واعتماد قوانين تنصّ على سبل جبرٍ لضحايا السجن السياسي أو التعذيب وعلى منح تعويضات لأسر السجناء السياسيين الذين فُقدوا أو أُعدموا، فضلاً عن طرح مشروع قانون على المجلس الوطني بشأن إنشاء مؤسسة وطنية لحقوق الإنسان.

With regard to the work of the National Commission on Truth and Reconciliation, the National Commission on Political Imprisonment and Torture and reparations initiatives in Chile, it was noted that the archives established by human rights groups during the dictatorship formed the primary documentation available to the truth and reconciliation commission.
29- وفيما يتعلق بأعمال اللجنة الوطنية لتقصي الحقائق والمصالحة، واللجنة الوطنية المعنية بالسجناء السياسيين والتعذيب ومبادرات الجبر في شيلي، أشير إلى أن المحفوظات التي وضعتها جماعات حقوق الإنسان أثناء الحكم الدكتاتوري تشكل الوثائق الأساسية المتاحة للجنة تقصي الحقائق والمصالحة.
