At national, regional and international levels, the perspectives of indigenous people have gained increasing recognition, as reflected, inter alia, in the presence of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, and the proclamation by the General Assembly of the year 1993 as the International Year of the World's Indigenous People.

78. Echoing Chief Seattle, one Indian leader stated to the Working Group on Indigenous Populations at its 1985 session:

Requests the Special Rapporteur to prepare her final working paper on the basis of the comments and information received from Governments, indigenous peoples and others and to submit it to the Working Group on Indigenous Populations at its seventeenth session and to the Sub—Commission at its fifty—first session;
٣- تطلب إلى المقررة الخاصة أن تعد ورقة العمل النهائية على أساس التعليقات والمعلومات التي ترد من الحكومات والشعوب اﻷصلية وغيرهما وأن تقدم هذه الورقة إلى الفريق العامل المعني بالسكان اﻷصليين في دورته السابعة عشرة وإلى اللجنة الفرعية في دورتها الحادية والخمسين؛

It was further alleged that their detention could be associated with the lawyers' recent participation in various United Nations international forums such as the New York Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues as well as the Working Group on Indigenous Populations, in Geneva.

The Ministry of Children and Adolescents provides direct attention to indigenous peoples in urban areas.

It also expressed its appreciation to representatives of observer Governments who provided extensive and valuable information about the latest developments concerning indigenous people in their countries.
كما أعرب عن تقديره لممثلي الحكومات المشاركة بصفة مراقب على المعلومات المستفيضة والقيمة التي قدموها عن آخر التطورات المتعلقة بالسكان اﻷصليين في بلدانهم.

In his statement to the Working Group on Indigenous Populations on 31 July 1996, he underlined the importance of the draft declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples and the programme of activities for the International Decade of the World's Indigenous People.
وأكد في بيانه أمام الفريق العامل المعني بالسكان اﻷصليين في ٣١ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٦، على أهمية مشروع اﻹعلان المتعلق بحقوق السكان اﻷصليين وبرنامج أنشطة العقد الدولي للسكان اﻷصليين في العالم.

The International Day was marked at Headquarters by a sacred pipe ceremony and songs and dances honouring Indigenous Peoples of the world.
وجرى الاحتفال باليوم الدولي في المقر بعزف أنغام دينية على آلات موسيقى القِرب وأغاني ورقصات احتفاء بالسكان اﻷصليين في العالم.

30. Mr. Mikhail Todyshev, of the RAIPON organization in the Russian Federation, described his organization's experience in the development of legislation relating to the indigenous peoples in Russia.
30- السيد ميخائيل توديشيف، من رابطة السكان الأصليين لمناطق الشمال وسيبيريا والشرق الأقصى للاتحاد الروسي، شرح تجربة منظمته في مجال بلورة التشريعات المتعلقة بالسكان الأصليين في روسيا.
