Switzerland was aware of the importance of universal adherence to Amended Protocol II. It expressed its appreciation to all those States which had recently become parties to the instrument or which had taken steps towards that goal and thanked the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the various States parties for having encouraged non-party States to respect the norms set forth in the Protocol.
